This project was so enjoyable for me, it's something I have though about doing for a long time and I am very happy with how it turned out. I had a funny set up where I had my phone hanging off the edge of some books on top of my desk. Unfortunately there was supposed to be another two pages explained in this video but for some reason the quality of those clips were not up to par with this first part, so I thought it was best to not include them to maintain the quality of the video. I am happy with my choice of maintaining a relaxing feel for this video, with having low music and hearing the sound of the markers and pages, and I feel the captions enhance that quality where you can focus on just the drawing if you want to, or learn more about the process by reading the captions.
I love animation projects! There are so many options of ways to create life on a screen, there no way you can feel not creative making one. I enjoy stop motion a lot because it is fun to watch every day objects around you come to life. I went through a few trial runs of other animations, like the one for the title screen, but the teddy bear was ultimately my final choice because it is an heirloom, older than I am, and I've been infatuated with it since I was a child. I would only see it every once in a while because it is made of wool, so it was nice to make him come alive.
3D Model
My 3D model is of a cat head, similar to the anatomy of the kitten I got over the summer. I found some withdraws during this project because in high school I learned to do some 3D rendering on the program MAYA and did some animations on there. Using this new program Sculpt GL had it's benefits of being able to think like a physical object you are sculpting, but the mesh had lots of issues I could not figure out. Am I happy with this project, not necessarily, but I am happy for the experience.
Group Project: App Review
We chose to do a project based on natural disasters and let students have freedom on how to respond to it through their artwork. When discussing this theme we were divided into whether we wanted to do a more socially driven project about protecting our environment or this concept of global awareness of the disasters happening around the world. I was glad we chose this topic because I feel it is so diverse and can be applied to all age groups. It is also a topic that is not talked about as much as our other idea of plastic use. Recycling is something that is pushed vigilantly by our society, so there may be some boredom around a topic like that while natural disasters are more engaging. The app is also very engaging with showing physical icons you can click on and can see the path of storms.
